  • but, but but...

so earlier i went into the computer room, only to find dashiell rummaging through things that weren't his (they were in a box, that he took out, opened, and proceeded to toss all over the floor).  so i asked him was he was doing.  i asked him if those papers were his.  he said, 'no, but...but...' and tried to tell me something, but i didn't let him finish and said to him, 'no but, but, but dashiell.  if they aren't yours, you shouldn't touch them.' so then i picked them all up and moved the box back to where is was, and i turned around, only to see dashiell's butt!  he had pulled his pants (and 'little pants') down and showed me his butt.  he said, 'it's a butt, butt, butt, momma!'
i couldn't help but smile and laugh.

    also...
when nana goes to pick up dashiell at school, some of the kids say to him, 'look, dashiell, there's your gramma!'
    his reply to this?
'that's not my gramma.  that's my nana.  my gramma lives at the airport!'

    precious.

  • headaches

so i've been having terrible headaches lately...not used to these because i generally don't get headaches.  it wasn't until several years ago that i actually had them.  i used to always say "i don't get headaches.  don't know what it's like."  unfortunately, not true anymore.  they've been piercing, stabbing pains through the back of my eyes, and then dull throbbing pains that don't abate with a bunch of ibuprofen.  so i ended up going to the doctor today.  i didn't even realize kaiser had appointments on the weekends.  always thought it'd have to be urgent care or something -- but no.  so that was good.  went to lakeview (where the boys were born) and the doctor says that it's most likely a sinus infection - and gave me some antibiotics.  she was going to give me this pain killer for the headaches, which is a mixture of tylenol, aspirin, and something else, but upon seeing that i was allergic to aspirin, she chose something else -- which is actually a migraine pill.  she said i should feel better in 2-3 days and if it doesn't get better or worsens, to go back.  doesn't quite hurt as bad anymore, but still a low, dull pain in the background.  maybe the antibiotics will help.  hopefully.  haven't been able to go out and run at all the last 2 weekends because of it.  i keep thinking that i could, but then i can barely stand and keep my eyes open at times!  =(

the boys have been good -- i guess!  or as good as they can be.  dashiell right now is talking to his trucks while playing with them...
    (this is kinda fun!)

"all right, i'm just sitting down.
we were just moving the garbage.
[he takes a tractor and shoves a bunch of other trucks/cars around on the table]
okay, nevermind.  you're monster trucks but your tires are dirty, huh?
i just don't like dirty tires.
these wheels are really dirty tires.
there we go.  now i'm going to go to bed.
    can i borrow your bed?
yes, we're sleeping here right now.
can i borrow that?  but be careful not to drop it.
    i'll be careful.
nobody will be able to catch us.  yea!  no body will.  yea!
    nobody will.
    under...
    down, there.
    [he notices me..]
i'm just trying to get my fingers to be stuck together.
i just like them to be stuck together!  i just like sticky!"

i think he was playing with the table guard (the bumper) and was playing with the adhesive on it...
anyhow.  time for him to get to bed.

  • the boys

    updates on the kids...
dashiell and brennan are still a bit under the weather...they're both still coughing and brennan threw up (in bed, on my hair) just 2 nights ago.  had to get up and change all the sheets.  thank goodness it was only liquid -- the stuff he drank when he awoke at 3:30 in the morning.  2 nights before that he awoke at about 3 after throwing up (curdled yogurt) in his crib.  then 3 more times after that in bed -- i caught most of it on my shirt each time.  i changed my shirt 3 times that night.  ugh.
dashiell's appetite has been up and down.  just tonight he's eaten a ton of food -- but mostly beans and rice and chips, in addition to the 1/2 a quesadilla derek picked up from this place that matt's fb team was having a fundraiser at.  we'd never been there, but it was just around the corner from the park, and they were offering 50% return on purchases!  wow.  i've never heard of such a high percentage.  makes one wonder how much the food is actually costing.
so matt's team is in the oec championship game against huntington beach tomorrow at 11:30am in laguna hills.  i guess after this game, they'll have a couple more, but i have no idea where or when they are yet.
dashiell's class apparently goes to the little church there sometimes.  the other day he came home and said that god had given him a sticker and a pencil.  that they went to his house and he got the sticker.  the sticker stayed on him all day long!  he was sad when it finally had fallen off.  i told him that maybe on monday he can ask and see if god will give him another one...
brennan is trying to say a few more words.  although these days it's often "mine!" in response to dashiell always saying that to him.  he says "play" and points to the game closet when he wants to play games.  lately it's been cariboo.  and he's been trying to sing along with dashiell when he sings the alphabet song.  it's pretty cute.  haven't been able to get that on video.  mom says that he recognizes and tries to say many of the words on the flashcards that i have upstairs, but again, no video...

  • swim

so matthew started his diving class this week and dashiell started back up his swim lessons, too.  his teacher this time is stacey, who was matthew's teacher for the dolphins last session.  she seems to be pretty strict, but still very kid friendly.  yay!  she even got him to do torpedoes and to lie on his back and float a couple of times!  i took some videos earlier, but those will have to wait.  no time right now...
i got soooo mad while we were trying to come home.  long story short, we were in the parking lot, ready to pull out, but there was a bevy of cars waiting to pull out as well as park.  i wasn't in any hurry, so i just sat and waited for them to all pass.  there was a car sitting right behind me (i thought it was blocking my way anyways, so i just waited).  then this lady comes up to our car and yells and motions for me to move -- basically telling me to go ahead and pull out of the space!  uh, what?!  since when did people wanting to park get so rude?  at first i couldn't tell what she was doing, so i rolled the window down, and she kept yelling at me to move it!  good grief.  people were honking at her and everything.  i was so upset i just sat there in the middle of the road telling her to stop being so rude and to not get so frantic about a dumb parking space.  good grief.
it upset me so much that dashiell, on the way home said, "that lady was bad, mama."

    on a happier note...
brennan still says, "baum" when he wants more food.  i can't even begin to say what word that is really supposed to be.  "baum"?!
he does say "cookie" very well now, as well as "yumm, yumm, yumm" when eating said cookie.  actually, he often walks by the counter and points up to the cookie jar saying "cookie" whenever he can.  what has daddy done to him?!  =P

dashiell is starting to feel better...he missed school monday and tuesday because he had a fever and was really under the weather.  but yesterday and today he went.  he really missed his friends.

matthew is still having a good time at school.  although mom told me something weird this morning.  when they were getting ready to leave in the morning, she noticed him trying to hide something behind his back when he came down the stairs. he was trying to smuggle something into his backpack.  come to find out, it's his football jersey.  he said that his classmate, bill (last name williams.  really.) didn't believe he played football so matthew wanted to bring his jersey in to show him as proof.  weird.  or is it?  seems so bizarre to me.
on our way to the swim center i tried to ask matthew why he didn't believe him.  he ended up telling me that bill thought he was too nice to be playing football.  hmmm...
i told him he should wear his old, red practice jersey to school.  it's wittmann red fridays afterall.  we'll see if he does.

nighty-night.  i am exhausted.  but thank goodness tomorrow is friday.  YAY!

  • poor dashiell

so brennan's been a bit annoyed at dashiell for sitting in the front part of his stroller for some time now i guess, and yesterday, maybe with the combination of it being so hot and dashiell getting bigger and brennan getting bigger, brennan kicked dashiell right off the stroller yesterday.  they were almost home, too.  just in front of the next-door neighbor's house.  he fell hard onto the pavement, got a massive bruise on his forehead and on his nose!  nana had to take him inside right away and he was wailing for a bit.  =(
nana told me that she wished the green wagon had seat belts on it, because then she would feel safer about wheeling brennan in it when when she went to go get dashiell.  but that wagon is over 8 years old.  immer got that for matthew when he turned TWO.  and the red radio flyer (metal) one lydia gave dashiell 2 years ago.  so i told my mom that we would go get (i know, i know...another) one that had seat belts on them.  most of the new ones have them on there.  then i decided i wanted the one with the canopy too.  hey, if i'm going to get a new one, it might as well be a nice one.  actually, there's one much nicer (the "ultimate comfort" one that has padded seat backs and stuff) but it was too pricey, and they weren't available in stores, just online.
so anyhow,  i just got done putting it together, but brennan's taking his morning nap, so they'll have to take a ride in it after he wakes up.  it should be pretty cool!
last night, when we went out, i told dashiell we were going out to get a new wagon, and he asked me, "mama, where is the wagon store? are we going to the wagon store now?"  but i had to make a pit-stop at the bank and trader joe's first, so he was quite anxious.
i'll post pictures later after they ride the wagon...
